A TalentMiles learning programme unfolds across teams and locations and takes place in the flow of everyday work. Participants complete tasks, reflect on what they are learning, and discuss it with others. They do all this at different times and in different places. From the customer’s perspective, all this activity can be difficult to follow. It can be hard to know how actively people are participating and whether the programme is moving forward. Version 47 of the TalentMiles App rebuilds the Tracking view to give customers a clearer view of the programme as it progresses.
The new runners visualisation shows how far each participant has progressed towards the goal and where they stand compared with the others in the path. Tracking also shows how many participants have submitted a learning task and how many have reached the programme’s checkpoint or goal. Together this information makes it easier to see that the programme is active and progressing.
Tracking also includes a chart showing how the number of completed tasks has increased over the course of the programme. This provides a different perspective from the runners: instead of showing where participants are now, it shows how completed tasks have accumulated over time.
Whether a participant is on track depends not only on how far they have progressed but also on how much time is left. Being halfway to the goal might be fine halfway through the programme, but it could mean a participant is falling behind if the programme is nearing its end. The green, yellow, and red statuses make this visible. The bar chart shows how participants are distributed across those statuses, giving a quick overview of whether most participants are keeping up. The same statuses are also shown for individual participants, making it easier to identify anyone who may be falling behind and where follow-up could be useful.
Our learning coaches work with our customers to design each learning path. Together they make sure that the selection and content of the tasks meet the needs of the organisation. The learning coaches also make sure that the tasks fit together in sequence and build into a greater whole. This means they think about the order and timing of the tasks on the learning path, how they connect to each other, and how participants will experience the path as they progress through it. Version 47 also updates the admin side of the app to make this work more visual. This lets our learning coaches build each learning path in a view that previews how it will appear to participants. It gives the coaches a clearer view of the whole path as they work on the many details.
The theme of version 47 is one of clarity. Customers get a clearer view of the learning path as it progresses, and our learning coaches get a clearer view of the path as they build it. These changes are part of our continued work to make the TalentMiles App a better tool for designing and following learning paths.
